I love that every wedding we photograph has a different story. This particular love story is a story of two lovely, hard-working, dedicated, studious and loving people who stayed together despite the long distance between them.
Jeffrey and Megan met during their final year at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the winter of 2006. Upon completion of their undergraduate studies Jeffrey was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army and spent 10 months in training in Georgia. Meanwhile Megan began graduate school in Kansas. This was only the beginning of being apart. Shortly after his training, Jeffrey was then stationed at Fort Carson and then deployed to Afghanistan for 12 months. When Jeffrey returned to Colorado June 2010, he decided to visit Megan in Kansas to pop the big question. Of course Megan said yes :). Since 2007 the couple had been living apart, seeing each other once every couple of months at the most. Upon completion of his Captain’s Career Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia in 2011 Jeffrey could then be stationed closer to Megan. At last they were living within the same area of each other! Not long after Jeffrey was stationed near Megan was he deployed yet again to Afghanistan for another 12-month tour. During the time of Jeffrey’s deployment the couple began planning their wedding. Jeffrey returned from Afganistan in March 2013 and the couple was married July 6, 2013.
This couple is truly strong and courageous. Megan completed graduate school and is now working on her PhD. We feel honored to have been part of such a prestige group of people.
I love the story of how Megan got her wedding dress. She was chosen to select a free wedding gown through a Brides Across America gown giveaway event. Brides from across America is an organization that supports military couples with wedding gown giveaways for fiancés/spouses of active duty military who have been deployed for active duty. Just so happens that a bridal salon in Megan’s city of Manhattan hosted a gown giveaway. Megan had always wanted to go wedding dress shopping with her Mom and sister, however she couldn’t pass up a FREE gown! I don’t think I could pass that up either. Megan’s Mom and Sister knew how much it meant to her to have them there when she was trying on gowns. So the day before the big even, the two surprised Megan. The 8-hour drive was worth surprising her. Megan received her free gown and got to have two very special people there with her. What a special moment, a moment none of them will forget!
Jeffrey, and all those who have served in the army or any military branch thank you for your service. You do not get enough thanks and praise for what you do. We appreciate you!
I love how Jeffrey’s friend and groomsmen Jeremy would make sure Jeffrey was in tip top shape. As you can see here Jeremy was making sure Jeffrey’s hat was on correctly.
Jeffrey’s nieces Jessica and Jennifer flew all the way from Korea to be at their Uncle’s wedding. Aren’t they adorable?!!
Jeffrey grew up in Hawaii and Megan in Pueblo. Their guests flew from around the world to witness these two getting married. What a beautiful day.
